Water is an essential part of life. Without it, we would suffer greatly from dehydration that can lead to serious consequences. People who don’t get enough water are often the ones who suffer from fatigue, brain fog and irritability – and are also prone to sickness.

If you feel as though you don’t get enough water or feel that it is not beneficial to you, here are some of the reasons why you should be drinking more water every day.

Our Body Needs it to Function

The human body is made up of around 70% water, while our brains can range from between 75-90%. If you ever feel that you are tired or lacking in concentration while you are working, it is most likely as a result from not drinking enough water. Next time you are feeling tired or are losing the ability to focus on a task, drink a glass of water and you will notice a big difference in your energy levels and concentration.

Keeps Our Skin Firm

Hollywood star Jennifer Aniston says that her radiant, glowing skin is a result of drinking at least a gallon (about 4 litres) of water every day. Our skin is like a sponge; when it is dry, it becomes wrinkled and rigid which leads to flakiness. When we drink enough water, our skin is hydrated and is more flexible and firm.

Improves Your Overall Mood

Have you ever noticed that people who are constantly keeping themselves hydrated with water are always happier than those who don’t? They have much more energy and give off positive vibes to those around them.

As our brain tissue is predominantly made up of water, we need to keep them hydrated so that we can remain focused. A slight drop in drinking water can cause our brains to lose focus by about 1-2%, which may not sound like a lot in general, but if you start to notice your concentration levels dropping, it is a sign that you need water immediately.

Keeps Your Insides Healthy

Water consumption has been linked to weight and keeping regular. When you drink water before a meal, it fills us up and we are less likely to eat as much. If you are on a diet, drinking water will help you fill fuller and as it has no calories, you don’t need to worry about counting it as part of your daily meal plan.

Additionally, water consumption helps our bowels maintain health as it prevents them from clogging up (which can lead to constipation) by flushing out all the nasty toxins floating around inside us.

As a leading specialist in pure water, the team at Refresh Pure Water are passionate about the products that we offer. We are committed to delivering the best products and service to our customers and our friendly staff are more than happy to assist you with all your enquiries. Children are very active and are often running around playing sports at school during recess and lunch – which makes for very thirsty work. As a nation, we are becoming more and more overweight as a result of poor diet and lack of exercise. In fact, advertisements promoting fast food and sugary drinks are most prominent on television during after school programs (4pm onwards).

However, if we educated our children about the reasons why they should be drinking water, our children will have a much brighter future. If schools invested in a water cooler for the classrooms, students and teachers can benefit greatly by drinking clean water that is kept cool all the time.

Convenience

Teachers don’t like students missing out on class, particularly to go refill their water bottles. In fact, some students would rather forego having a drink than get up and go get a drink of water.

By having a water cooler in the classroom, students don’t need to leave the classroom and can fill their bottles right there. Another reason is during the hot, summer months the water fountains in the school yards are often exposed to the scorching heat, which heats up the metal, causing the water to become warm and undrinkable.

Can be Used as a Learning Tool

We all remember learning about how rain comes about and growing a potato in a plastic cup using seeds and cotton balls in water. By teaching children about water using the real thing instead of reading it to them from a book that has pictures in it, they will have a greater appreciation for it and are more likely to engage with it.

Can Help Prevent Sickness

Water has been proven to help prevent humans from getting sick and fight off diseases. In fact, doctors encourage us to drink more when we are sick so that our body can extract the bacteria that infects it when we are not well. Children are most vulnerable to sickness, which is why we need to encourage them to drink more water so they don’t miss out on a school day.

Promotes Health and Wellbeing

As educators, teachers should be promoting and encouraging students to have a water bottle with them at all times in the class room. Teaching children about the health benefits of water not only encourages them to drink, we are teaching good and positive habits that will serve well when they reach high school and adulthood.

At Refresh Pure Water, we are passionate about pure water. We believe that each and every student should be able to learn in an environment that promotes them to lead a healthy lifestyle as they learn. As children continue to learn and develop, their brains need constant fuelling from water that will help keep their minds focused and learn to the best of their ability.

If you would like to know more about our water coolers, contact us today and we’ll help you with all the necessary information you need.

It is not uncommon for people to reach for the coffee cup first thing in the morning to start their day. It has been a part of life for so many years and they probably couldn’t imagine doing anything else after waking up.

However, in Japan the common practise is to drink 2 glasses of water as soon as you wake up. They believe that by doing so, you can help your body prevent diseases as well as hydrating your body.

We all know the importance of drinking water and for good reason. Drinking water has a number of health benefits and drinking it as soon as you wake up does wonders for you. The next time you wake from your slumber, drink a glass of water instead of coffee and you’ll be amazed at how you feel.

So what are some of the benefits of drinking water in the morning?

It Fires Up Your Metabolism

Water has no calories and if you are on a weight management plan this is good news. Drinking water after waking up has shown to increase your metabolism and help you burn more calories throughout the day. Not only that, water fills you up, curbing your appetite so that you eat less calories to help you achieve your weight loss goals.

You Become Rehydrated

When you wake up, your body has gone at least 8 hours without water. Although you probably won’t dehydrate as you sleep, you still lose water through breathing, as you breathe out moisture. Drinking water as soon as you wake up replenishes your body with lost minerals allowing you a fresh start to the day. As our body is made up of 70% water, we need to hydrate as soon as possible upon waking.

Brain Function

As you know our brain is made up of around 75% water and even the slightest drop in our water consumption can leave us feeling tired and unfocused. Drinking a glass of water will not only hydrate your brain, you will feel more alert and be able to concentrate for longer periods of time.

Helps Prevent Disease

As mentioned earlier, the Japanese drink two glasses of water each morning after they wake up. They believe that drinking water first thing in the morning helps your body prevent disease and sickness. Japan’s overall longevity amongst its population is the highest in the world, and has a number of residents over 100 years old. If this can be attributed to drinking water, then it can only be a good thing.

At Refresh Pure Water we know the importance that drinking water has on your body which is why we are focused on delivering the best products and customer service to our clients. If you are interested in purchasing our bottled water or would like to know more information about our products, please get in touch with us today and our team will happily answer any questions you may have.

How many times have you heard somebody say that you must drink at least 2 litres of water every day to keep your body and mind in check? Doctors and health experts have been telling us this over and over again, and unfortunately not everybody listens and as a result, suffer from a number of health complications that are avoidable simply by getting enough water.

Water consumption should be one of the top priorities for everybody, and if you find it hard to drink enough water, here are some ideas that will help you trick yourself into drinking more of it each day.

Keep a Bottle with you at all Times

Whether you work in an office, a work site or a busy parent, have a water bottle with you at all times as a reminder to drink water. Not only are they convenient, you don’t have to constantly get up and go to the tap like you would if you were using a glass.

Use Technology

In this day and age, we are constantly using our phones, and not just for making phone calls. We schedule meetings, watch television programs and send emails with them, so why not use it to ensure you are getting in enough water each day? There are a number of apps available that allow you to schedule your day and set reminders, so set a reminder every half an hour so that you can drink.

Write it Down

A lot of people who are conscious about their weight often keep a food diary to track what they ate at a particular time of the day. So why not include water in your diary? Write down the time you drank (and how much) and you’ll be able to keep track of your water consumption. Also, water has no calories, so it won’t add any unwanted calories to your calculations. Remember a standard drinking glass is 250ml, so if you multiply that by 8 you have reached the 2 litres.

Add it into Your Routine

If you like to have a cup of coffee as soon as you wake up or brush your teeth before you go to bed, have a glass before doing so. If you feel as though you may forget, have a glass (or bottle) at hand as a reminder and you won’t forget. Once you start doing so, it becomes a habit and part of your routine. In fact, the more often you do something, you don’t even think about it and this should always be the case when it comes to your daily water intake.

Water is an essential part of life which is why it is important that you keep drinking it. At Refresh Pure Water, we know the importance of keeping hydrated and as such, we are committed to providing our customers with quality products and the best purified water that not only tastes great, but also quenches your thirst. People are curious creatures and we are always seeking the answers to the many questions that we have. When it comes to water consumption, people often have a number of questions relating to water.

How Much Water do I Need to Drink?

It is well documented that humans should be drinking no less than 8 glasses or 2litres of water a day. However there has been some suggestion that women should be drinking at least 12 glasses a day, and men 16. If you feel as if you are not getting in enough water during the day, have a water bottle with you at all times.

Is Tap Water Good to Drink?

Tap water is safe to drink, however when it is filtered at water plants not all bacteria and toxins are completely removed from the water. This is one of the biggest factors in a person’s decisions not to drink water and consume unhealthy, sugary beverages instead, which ultimately cause more harm than good.

How Can I Improve my Drinking Water?

There are a number of reasons as to why people don’t drink enough water. One of which is the taste. Some don’t like the taste of water and therefore choose not to drink. However, there is a solution to this problem and that is to invest in a water cooler. Not only does it keep the water cool all year round; it is pure, meaning it is free of any chemicals that can be found in tap water and has a much smoother and cleaner taste.

Why Should I Drink Water?

Aside from the fact our body is predominantly made up of water, we need it to function properly. Our brains need it so we can remain focused, our skin needs to be hydrated so it doesn’t dry out and it helps our kidneys flush out nasty toxins that are floating around in our bodies.

It’s true that water is nature’s medicine, and when we don’t get enough in a day we can feel tired and lethargic. In some cases, being dehydrated can lead to hospitalisation and nobody wants to stay in hospital for not drinking enough water.

Is There Such a Thing as Drinking too Much Water?

As mentioned before, we need to be drinking at least 2 litres of water each day. Drinking more water won’t do any harm to you, except increase urination which helps your body get rid of unwanted toxins and keeps your bowels regular.

A good rule of thumb is to remember the 8 by 8 rule. 8 glasses a day for 8 hours, or a glass (250ml) every hour over an 8-hour period. If you drink more than a glass you will feel fuller and more likely to not eat as much, particularly if before a meal.

You have probably seen those television advertisements where a model is advocating a brand name moisturising cream, with the model stating that the cream is the reason why their skin is youthful. However, those products are not cheap, and how much can you really trust what the actress in that ad is saying?

If you want radiant, glowing skin – the secret is quite simple – drink more water. Water does wonders for our skin and the more we drink, the less likely you are going to waste money on skin care products that may or may not even work.

Skin Absorbs Water

Much like our body and brain, our skin needs water to stay healthy. Think of your skin like a sponge. When a sponge is dry it is contracted, shrivelled and wrinkles up. Put that sponge under water and it expands and becomes flexible. Skin is no different. A lack of water dries up our skin which causes flakiness, and over time, wrinkles will develop. So the more water you drink, you are expanding the moisture levels in your skin which will make it look better.

Tighter Pores

To continue on from the previous point, drinking plenty of water has an effect on your pores. If we take the sponge example, when we fail to drink enough water, our pores become dry and rigid like the holes in a sponge. When this happens, they lose their flexibility and as such can cause problems such as acne, blackheads and even bumps in the skin.

However, when you drink sufficient levels of water, your pores become more flexible and are able to stretch and release natural oils from within your skin.

Promotes Circulation

When you drink water, you are not only replenishing the lost minerals you are giving your blood much needed oxygen to transport to the rest of your body. The more water you drink, the better the circulation in your skin. And when you are well hydrated, the ability your skin has to repair itself remains intact.

Keeps Your Skin Healthy

As you get older, your skin is more likely to dry out, causing flakiness and wrinkles. As your skin is around 65% water, staying hydrated is vital in looking after the health of your skin.

It is said that the more water you drink on a daily basis (over 2 litres), you are more likely to increase the thickness and density of your skin. If you are worried about your skin, a glass of water will do wonders for its health and overall appearance.

As a leading specialist in purified water, Refresh Pure Water knows the importance water has on the health of your skin. We pride ourselves on delivering the best purified water to our customers so they can keep their body replenished and their skin looking radiant.

“Pure water is the world’s first and foremost medicine”- Proverb

When we drink a glass of water, we not only quench our thirst, our brain is able to function properly. In fact, if we don’t get enough water our brain cells lose efficiency therefore making us less capable of keeping focus on everyday tasks. Doctors stress the importance of drinking 2 litres or more a day to keep our body in check.

Why You Should Drink

In a 24-hour period we sleep for roughly 6-8 hours a night, which is the longest period we go without food or water. For most adults, the morning routine includes getting out of bed and pouring a cup of coffee to kick-start our day. Caffeine is a stimulant that gives our brain a much needed boost of energy but is only short lived.

Not only that, caffeine is a diuretic which helps the body get rid of water and salts through increased urination, which can cause your skin to dry out.

Drinking water as soon as you wake up not only replenishes the lost minerals, your mind becomes a lot clearer and you won’t have any adverse reactions to it as you would with a caffeine based stimulant.

Even if you’re not thirsty, it is important that you are getting enough water throughout the day to keep your brain functioning.

A slight decrease in water consumption can lead to a drop in concentration levels which can affect your ability to work, especially if you are sitting in front of a computer screen for the majority of your work day.

It Can Relieve Stress

At times, life can get stressful. Work, family and day to day activities can put us under a lot of pressure. More often than not, we find different ways of trying to cope with stress such as smoking, drinking alcohol or indulging in sugary treats such as chocolate, which might make you feel better but is harmful to your overall health. Instead, the next time you’re stressing out about something, reach for a cool glass of water.

Studies have shown that drinking water can decrease our cortisol levels (stress hormone). By constantly drinking water (at least 250 ml every 30 minutes) you can reduce the physiological responses we have to stress. If you often find yourself under duress, it is time to start drinking more water. If you don’t like the taste of tap water, consider purchasing a water cooler for your home and office to enjoy the benefits of purified water. Not only is it free from any nasty chemicals that can sometimes be found in tap water, your tastebuds will thank you for it.

Water is an essential part of life. As a leading specialist in purified water, Refreshed Pure Water is passionate about delivering our customers the best products to satisfy their thirst. If you would like to know more about our products, contact us today and one of our staff members will assist you with all your water enquiries.

Going to the gym is an essential part of our day to day lives as we try to live an active and healthy lifestyle. Regardless of what your goals are, the one thing that every gym goer has in common is having their clothing (and sometimes the machine or workout station) drenched in sweat. Sweat is generally a good indicator of an intense training session, and some people wear those sweaty clothes as a badge of honour.

However, it is important that you keep hydrated while you are exercising to replace the lost minerals you have sweated out. Many personal trainers and fitness gurus constantly stress the importance of having a water bottle with you when you are exercising – and this is for good reason.

What Happens When You Sweat?

When performing any form of exercise, your blood circulation increases and your body heats up. Sweating is the body’s natural reaction to cooling itself down to prevent overheating during exercise. As our blood flows and oxygen levels increase, our body starts to heat up, causing the millions of sweat glands under our skin to carry the heat onto the skins surface, which is evaporated into the atmosphere.

Of course, everyone is different and that includes the amount we sweat. Some people will sweat profusely during their warm up, while others will look as if they never even went to the gym. Regardless of how you sweat, you should keep yourself very well hydrated when you are at the gym.

How Come Athletes Consume Sport Drinks?

It is important to remember that professional athletes and sporting leagues are sponsored by major companies. As a result, these athletes are representing that company in a subtle but obvious manner as they consume that drink. Yes, it has been reported that sports drinks give the athlete the hydration they need, but they’re also loaded with dangerously high levels of sugar which the everyday gym goer doesn’t need. Yes, these drinks can spike your energy levels while you train, but once that energy burst subsides and the sugar crash starts to kick in, it can leave you feeling tired, lethargic and sometimes feeling sick.

A good workout at the gym can be all for nothing if you don’t properly hydrate throughout the session. If you love nothing more than hitting the weights or running on the treadmill, having a bottle of water with you will keep you hydrated, allowing you to train harder for longer.

At Refresh Pure Water, we know the importance of keeping your body healthy and with our pure water, you will definitely find the right water bottle to get you through those intense gym sessions.

It is no secret that water is the single most important source of fuel the human body needs to function correctly. For years, health experts have been stressing the importance of drinking a minimum of 2 litres (or 8 glasses) a day to keep our bodies functioning properly and our brain active.

The human body is made up of approximately 70% water, while our brain tissue is approximately 75-90% water. When we don’t drink enough water, the body will start to send signals to the brain letting it know that we haven’t had enough fluid intake. If we ignore these signs, our body begins to shut down and become less responsive as dehydration begins to take hold.

What are the Symptoms of Dehydration?

Dehydration begins when the body starts to sweat as a result of high intensity activities such as sport and exercise as the body tries to cool itself. However, other factors of dehydration can be a result of stress (and forgetting to drink), hot environments and crying. Some symptoms can be mild and subtle, while more extreme symptoms and be life-threatening.

Mild symptoms can include:

  • Dry throat or mouth
  • Mild Headache
  • Dizziness
  • Tiredness
  • Slight discoloration in urine (yellow colour)

Severe symptoms of dehydration can lead to a medical emergency and these symptoms frequently include:

  • Muscle cramps (in rare cases a whole body cramp)
  • Confusion
  • Sunken eyes
  • Low blood pressure
  • Breathing difficulties (short, fast breaths)
  • Major discoloration in urine (brown colour)
  • Delirium

In extreme cases a person can lose consciousness and must be admitted to hospital, where they will need a drip inserted to help replace the lost fluids. This is why it is vitally important to ensure you are getting enough water throughout the day.

How Can We Avoid Dehydration?

Everyone is prone to dehydration, but is can be avoided by drinking enough water (remember the 2-litre minimum). Soft drink, coffee and sports drinks are not viable alternatives as soft drink and sports drinks are loaded with sugar and other nasty additives that only give you a quick energy hit. These drinks don’t quench your thirst, and coffee contains caffeine which will increase alertness – but as caffeine is a diuretic – it will only dehydrate you further and deplete your body of important vitamins and minerals.

If you are worried that you are not getting enough water through the day, it is important that you keep a water bottle with you at all times. If for some reason you don’t have your bottle with you (some workplaces such as retail stores don’t allow water bottles on the shop floor) the other alternative is to use a plastic cup. Cost-effective, re-useable and recyclable, our range of cups will ensure you are constantly hydrated throughout the day.
